It takes a village to raise a child.
Equipping vulnerable orphaned children and youth with the education, life skills, and resources required for a lifetime of independence.
Our Approach
BABA NYUMBANI is a micro-village of protection and welfare care for orphaned and vulnerable children and youth in Kenya. While in our care, we provide each child/youth with housing, safety, health, nutrition, life skills economics and education while in a family setting and a village environment. Our staff and community are dedicated to being an ecosystem of protection and care according to the best interests of each child and youth.
HOW IT WORKS
Our VISION is for each child and youth to;
Develop resilience and emotional well-being.
Achieve academic success.
Develop life skills and independence.
Have agency to pursue their dreams.
Successfully transition to adulthood.
Our primary focus is on children aged 4 to 9 years old—a window of life where a child’s sense of safety and identity is formed. For those who have lost one or both parents, this period is often defined by profound trauma and a devastating lack of basic care.
We step in for children facing the most extreme challenges, including those suffering from neglect, abuse, or the threat of exploitation.
These children often face a multitude of challenges, including:
Emotional Trauma: Grief, anxiety, and depression are common.
Lack of Stability: Frequent moves and changes in caregivers disrupt their sense of security.
Educational Gaps: Missed schooling and lack of access to quality education.
Health Issues: Poor nutrition and lack of healthcare access.
Social Isolation: Stigmatization and difficulty forming relationships.
By intervening and providing immediate access to the resources needed during these specific developmental years, we offer more than just aid; we offer the stability and hope they need to begin healing.
