STORY
For two decades our mission has provided health, nutrition, housing, safety, education and life skill economics for many children, youth and families.
We believe every child or youth has a right to ideal family care; safety, protection, nourishment and love. But that’s not true for those that are orphaned and vulnerable.
BABA NYUMBANI is a Micro-Village of comprehensive care for vulnerable children and youth facing adversity in Kenya.
Our mission is to equip vulnerable, orphaned children and youth with the education, life skills, and resources required for a lifetime of independency while our vision is to lead a global shift from institutional dependency to individual self-sustainability.
FROM CRISIS
approximately 3.6 million children in Kenya are classified as OVC (orphan and vulnerable children). This is nearly 19% of all children in the country.
6 out of every 10 children in rural communities experience "multidimensional poverty," meaning they lack access to at least two essential services, such as clean water, healthcare, or education.
1 in 5 children lack the basic parental protection or resources required to thrive.

Receives Daily Meals: Child + Youth reaches full height and cognitive potential; higher IQ.
Stays in School: Child + Youth earns 25% more income; stays out of the "informal" labor trap.
Learns Life Skills: Child + Youth 31% less likely to face early pregnancy or HIV.
Lives in a Safe Home: Child + Youth breaks the cycle of trauma; becomes a stable parent themselves.

BABA NYUMBANI is a micro-village of protection and welfare care for orphaned and vulnerable children and youth in Kenya.
While in our care, we provide each child/youth with housing, safety, health, nutrition, life skills economics and education within in a “family/village” setting.
Our staff and community are dedicated to being an ecosystem of protection and care according to the best interests of each child and youth.
